Rangers have been crowned champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the ninth time following a 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Sunday.
Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side dominated the early stages of the encounter and took the lead through Chidiebere Nwobodo in the 30th minute.
Nwobodo completed his brace 10 minutes into the second half to put the visitors firmly in control.
Ikorodu City, who also needed a victory to strengthen their hopes of securing continental football, pulled one back through Moses Ali two minutes before the hour mark.
Meanwhile, Rivers United finished second on the table after cruising to a 3-0 home win against Katsina United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Chijioke Mbaoma scored twice for Rivers United, while Aniekeme Okon added the third goal.
