Former Spain defender Gerard Piqué has been banned for two months following a confrontation with a referee involving his club, FC Andorra.
The punishment was handed down after Piqué was found to have acted improperly during an incident in which he strongly criticised match officials after a controversial decision. Reports said tensions escalated following the final whistle, leading to disciplinary action from the Spanish football authorities.
The ban means Piqué will be unable to carry out official duties linked to the club during the suspension period. FC Andorra, which the former Barcelona player owns, has not yet confirmed whether it plans to appeal the decision.
Piqué retired from professional football in 2022 after a successful career with Barcelona and Spain, winning multiple league titles, Champions League trophies and the 2010 World Cup. Since retiring, he has remained heavily involved in football through club ownership and business ventures.
