Paul Merson has identified an Arsenal F.C. player he believes has caused selection concerns for manager Mikel Arteta.
The former Arsenal midfielder suggested that recent performances and inconsistency from certain squad members have created a “headache” for Arteta as he tries to balance form, fitness, and tactical stability during a crucial stage of the season.
Merson noted that while Arsenal remain strong in key areas, some players have struggled to maintain a consistent level, forcing the manager into difficult decisions over starting line-ups and rotation.
He added that such issues are typical for title-chasing teams, where competition for places is intense and small dips in performance are quickly exposed.
Despite the concern, Merson believes Arsenal still have enough quality and depth to compete strongly, but stressed that Arteta must quickly resolve any uncertainty within the squad if they are to sustain their challenge at the top end of the table.
