Napoli’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League has activated a key condition in their agreement to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, paving the way for the deal to move forward.
The Danish forward is expected to join Napoli on a structured transfer that includes performance-based or competition-related clauses, with Champions League qualification understood to be one of the triggers required for the move to become active.
With Napoli securing a top-four finish in Serie A, the club’s return to Europe’s elite competition now clears the financial and sporting conditions needed to finalise the deal. Negotiations between Napoli and Manchester United had already progressed in principle, with personal terms believed to be aligned.
Højlund, who joined United from Atalanta in 2023, has had a mixed spell in the Premier League, showing flashes of promise but struggling for consistent form. A move to Napoli would reunite him with Serie A football, where he first made his breakthrough.
The final steps now focus on paperwork and official confirmation, but the Champions League qualification has effectively unlocked the transfer pathway.
