Kylian Mbappé is facing growing scrutiny at Real Madrid after a turbulent few weeks involving injury concerns, a controversial yacht trip and a viral fan petition calling for his exit.
The controversy began when Mbappé travelled to Sardinia with actor girlfriend Ester Expósito while recovering from a hamstring injury. The trip sparked backlash among supporters and sections of the Spanish media, who questioned his commitment as Madrid’s season unraveled.
Mbappé’s camp has since defended the trip, insisting it was approved and monitored by the club’s medical staff. Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa also attempted to calm the situation, saying players are entitled to spend their free time as they wish.
The issue escalated further after reports of tension inside the dressing room, including claims of a heated exchange between Mbappé and a member of the coaching staff during training.
Fan frustration has now spilled online. A petition titled “Mbappé Out” has reportedly gathered more than one million signatures — with some reports claiming the figure has surpassed four million.
Despite the criticism, Mbappé’s numbers remain outstanding. The France captain is still Madrid’s top scorer this season with 41 goals, but the club’s disappointing campaign — including Champions League failure and falling behind rivals FC Barcelona in La Liga has intensified the spotlight on him.
