Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle was in attendance as Ikorodu City strengthened their continental qualification hopes with an impressive 3-1 victory over Wikki Tourists at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
Ikorodu City produced a dominant first-half display, scoring all three goals before the break in a commanding performance that thrilled the home supporters.
Salami Farouk opened the scoring for the Oga Boys before Abayomi Ayodeji doubled their advantage. Joseph Arumala then added the third goal to cap an outstanding opening 45 minutes for the hosts.
Wikki Tourists responded in the second half through reliable striker Jonathan Mairiga, who pulled one back in the 65th minute, but the visitors were unable to mount a comeback as Ikorodu City comfortably saw out the match.
The victory moves Ikorodu City into third place on the league table with just two matches remaining this season, keeping their hopes of securing a continental ticket firmly alive.
For Wikki Tourists, however, the defeat leaves them in serious relegation danger. Sitting 19th on the table, they must now win their remaining two fixtures to stand any realistic chance of avoiding the drop.
