Ian Wright has named Jay-Jay Okocha as the most underrated player in Premier League history.
The former Arsenal F.C. striker made the claim while speaking on The Overlap, highlighting Okocha’s exceptional talent and influence during his time in England, particularly with Bolton Wanderers F.C..
Widely regarded as Bolton’s greatest ever player, Okocha never lifted a major trophy in England, with his closest achievement coming in the 2003–04 season when Bolton finished runners-up in the League Cup after losing to Middlesbrough F.C..
He played a key role in helping Bolton avoid relegation in his debut season and later inspired their impressive sixth-place finish in the 2004–05 campaign.
Wright praised the Nigerian playmaker’s flair and influence, insisting he deserved far greater recognition among Premier League greats.
“Jay-Jay Okocha… he should have got much more love. Bolton!” Wright said.
