Galatasaray are reportedly considering handing the captain’s armband to Victor Osimhen if the club decides not to continue with Argentine striker Mauro Icardi.
According to Turkish football pundit Ali Naci Kucuk, Galatasaray view Osimhen as a leading candidate for the role because of his growing influence both on and off the pitch.
The Nigerian forward has enjoyed a remarkable spell in Turkey since arriving in Istanbul, playing a major role in back-to-back Süper Lig titles and a Turkish Cup triumph while scoring over 50 goals for the club across multiple campaigns.
This season, Osimhen has continued his impressive form with 15 league goals and five assists in 22 matches. He also contributed seven goals and three assists in 10 UEFA Champions League appearances before Galatasaray’s elimination by Liverpool F.C. in the round of 16.
The possible captaincy is seen as recognition of Osimhen’s leadership qualities and rising importance within the squad, with fans and club officials increasingly viewing him as one of the team’s key figures for the future.
