Zhao Xintong squandered a 3-0 lead as Shaun Murphy stormed back to take a 5-3 advantage after the opening session of their World Championship quarter-final.
Zhao started strongly with a brilliant 122 break and built early momentum, but Murphy responded in style, winning five straight frames with composed, clinical play to seize control.
Elsewhere, Barry Hawkins edged ahead 5-3 against Mark Allen in another tightly contested quarter-final.
