Xavi Simons has been ruled out for the rest of the season and this summer’s World Cup after suffering a serious knee injury, dealing a major blow to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Netherlands midfielder ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Spurs’ win over Wolves and will undergo surgery, with recovery expected to take several months.
Simons said he was “heartbroken” after the injury ended both his club campaign and hopes of representing the Netherlands national football team at the 2026 World Cup.
The setback comes at a crucial time for Tottenham, who are battling relegation with just a few games left in the Premier League season.
