Virgil van Dijk apologised to Liverpool fans, saying the team “gave up” during their heavy FA Cup loss to Manchester City.
Liverpool lost 4-0 in the quarter-final, with City scoring quickly around half-time to take control of the game. Van Dijk said the team started the second half hoping to fight back, but things got worse and they stopped pushing hard enough.
He admitted the players let the fans, themselves, and the manager down, especially with their poor second-half performance.
