Victor Wembanyama has been named NBA Defensive Player of the Year after a record-breaking and unanimous vote.
The San Antonio Spurs star, who stands 7ft 4in, became the first player in the award’s history to receive all 100 first-place votes.
At just 22 years old, Wembanyama is also the youngest ever winner of the award and only the second player to claim it within his first three NBA seasons.
He led the league in blocks for the third straight year and also posted career-best numbers in points, rebounds, and steals, helping the Spurs finish with one of the best records in the league.
Wembanyama said he was “super proud” of the achievement, while basketball legends have praised his defensive impact as game-changing.
