Tottenham Hotspur condemn “vile” racist abuse aimed at Kevin Danso

0

Tottenham Hotspur have strongly condemned the “vile, dehumanising racism” directed at defender Kevin Dansofollowing their 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Danso made an error that led to Brighton’s late equaliser from Georginio Rutter, after which he was targeted with abusive messages on social media. Spurs said the abuse was “significant and abhorrent” and confirmed it has been reported to the police and relevant authorities.

The club added that they will push for the strongest possible action against those responsible and made it clear that Danso has their full support, stressing that no player should face discrimination regardless of performance on the pitch.

Danso himself responded, saying the abuse “doesn’t define me” and will not distract him, while also reaffirming his focus on football and his values.

The incident comes during the Premier League’s “No Room For Racism” campaign and is part of a wider ongoing issue, with several players across the league having faced similar abuse this season. Authorities and football bodies continue to investigate and say offenders will face bans and legal action.
