Real Sociedad won the Copa del Rey after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Atletico Madrid, securing their fourth title.
The final started in stunning fashion as Ander Barrenetxea scored the fastest goal in Copa del Rey final history after just 14 seconds. Atletico responded through Ademola Lookman, but Sociedad regained the lead before half-time with a penalty from Mikel Oyarzabal.
Atletico fought back again in the second half, with Julian Alvarez scoring a superb long-range goal to level the match and send it to extra time.
Neither side could find a winner in extra time, forcing a tense penalty shootout. Sociedad goalkeeper Unai Marrero made two crucial saves, before Pablo Marin scored the decisive penalty to seal the trophy.
The win marks Sociedad’s first Copa del Rey title since 2020, while Atletico must now turn their focus to their upcoming Champions League semi-final.
