Manchester United are confident Kobbie Mainoo will sign a new long-term deal, according to manager Michael Carrick.
Mainoo is close to agreeing a contract extension that could keep him at the club until 2031, with a big pay rise expected. Carrick said talks are going well and the club is calm and positive about the situation.
The 20-year-old midfielder has become an important player again after a difficult period earlier in the season, when he struggled for game time and was linked with a possible move away.
Carrick also spoke about the team’s progress, with United now pushing for a top finish and Champions League qualification after a strong run of results.
