Former Nigeria striker Michael Eneramo has died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest during a friendly match in Kaduna, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed.
The 40-year-old collapsed shortly after the start of the second half on Friday and was later pronounced dead.
Eneramo earned 10 caps for the Super Eagles and enjoyed a successful club career across Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, where he was widely respected for his strength and goalscoring ability.
His former club Esperance paid tribute, describing him as a symbol of strength and determination, while the NFF called his death “devastating.”
He is the latest African footballer to die during a match due to suspected heart-related issues.
