Aaron Ramsey is taking on the London Marathon shortly after retiring, running in memory of an “amazing” young boy and to support a cause close to his heart.
The former Wales captain and Arsenal midfielder is raising funds for a charity set up by friends after the death of their six-year-old son, Hugh, who passed away from a rare cancer.
Ramsey said the challenge has been tough, with demanding training conditions, but also rewarding. He was inspired by Hugh’s family, describing their strength and determination as incredible.
By running the marathon, Ramsey hopes to help raise awareness and support for children and families facing serious illness, using his platform to make a positive impact beyond football.
