Wales boss Rhian Wilkinson says she will continue rotating her goalkeepers during the Women’s World Cupqualifying campaign.
Wales begin their bid to reach the 2027 World Cup in Brazil against the Czech Republic on Tuesday. Wilkinson has been switching between Olivia Clark and Safia Middleton-Patel and says neither has fully claimed the number one spot yet.
Clark, who plays for Leicester City, and Middleton-Patel of Manchester United have shared duties over the past two years. Wilkinson says both have performed well for Wales, but neither has clearly made the position their own.
She also pointed out that neither goalkeeper is a regular starter at club level, which makes selection harder. After facing the Czech Republic, Wales will play Montenegro, and both keepers are expected to get game time.
