Scotland bounced back from opening losses to Sweden and Japan with wins over Canada and the USA at the World Men's Curling Championship in Utah.
Ross Whyte’s rink, defending last year’s title won by Bruce Mouat’s team, sits sixth in the round-robin. They opened strong against the USA, scoring two in the first end and another double in the fourth, eventually winning 6-4. Earlier, they had lost 6-5 to Sweden and 7-5 to Japan.
Scotland also secured an 8-3 win over Canada, taking a big lead in the fifth end, and Whyte said getting ahead early is key against top teams. His rink of Robin Brydone, Euan Kyle, and Craig Waddell is representing Scotland after Mouat opted out following their Olympic silver for Great Britain.
Scotland now faces Poland, who recently claimed their first-ever world championship victory.
