
Kate O'Connor, world silver medallist, headlines Ireland’s team for the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland.
O’Connor won Ireland’s first medal at these championships since 2006, taking silver in the pentathlon in Nanjing last year, and followed that with a second-place finish in the heptathlon at the World Championships in Tokyo.
Irish national champion Nick Griggs will compete in the 3,000m alongside Andrew Coscoran, while five-time European medallist Mark English leads the 800m entry. Emerging athletes including Sarah Lavin, Bori Akinola, Lauren Roy, Maeve O’Neill, Ciara Neville, Emma Moore, James Gormley, and Elizabeth Ndudi complete the 15-strong squad.
Athletics Ireland’s high-performance director Paul McNamara praised the mix of seasoned stars and emerging talent, highlighting strong prospects for medals.
