Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda reclaimed the world half-marathon record with a brilliant run in Lisbon, finishing in 57:20—10 seconds faster than the previous mark set by Yomif Kejelcha in 2024.
The 25-year-old, a three-time world cross-country champion, broke the record after a strong pace in the final two kilometres. Nicholas Kipkorir of Kenya was second in 58:08, with fellow Kenyan Gilbert Kiprotich third in 58:59.
Kiplimo ran the first 5km in 13:28, reached 10km in 27:00, and 15km in 40:52, then accelerated to secure the record.
