Danny Welbeck has triggered a 12-month option in his Brighton contract, extending his stay at the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.

The 35-year-old striker, who joined Brighton from Watford in 2020, is currently the club’s top scorer this season with 11 goals in 30 appearances. His performances have even put him in contention for an England recall ahead of the World Cup.

Welbeck has now scored 48 goals in 191 appearances for the Seagulls, and Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed his desire to keep the former Manchester United and Arsenal forward at the club.
