Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior says Enzo Fernandez is “fully committed” to the club, despite the midfielder’s recent comments leaving his future unclear.
After Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Paris St-Germain, Fernandez had told ESPN: “I don’t know” if he would stay next season. The 25-year-old, who joined Chelsea for a British record £107m in January 2023, also mentioned the World Cup and the remaining eight games before deciding.
Rosenior said he spoke with Fernandez at length and the midfielder expressed happiness at Chelsea, his passion for success, and commitment to the team. He added that some of Fernandez’s words were misconstrued in translation and emotion.
Chelsea are out of the Champions League and sit sixth in the Premier League after recent losses, but Rosenior stressed the club’s aim to fight for a Champions League spot.
He also dismissed criticism about giving players a note during the 8-2 PSG defeat, saying it was just part of his job to help the team.
