Australia are on the verge of T20 World Cup elimination after Pathum Nissanka smashed an unbeaten 100 to lead Sri Lanka to an emphatic eight-wicket win in Pallekele.
Australia needed victory to stay in control of their qualification hopes, but despite a strong start from Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh, they collapsed late in their innings to be bowled out for 181.
Sri Lanka made light work of the chase, with Nissanka reaching his century in just 52 balls and Kusal Mendis adding 51. The loss leaves Australia relying on other results and net run-rate to have any chance of reaching the Super 8s.
