Pep Guardiola says he wants to use his platform to speak up and make the world a better society, especially for victims of conflict. The Manchester City manager missed media duties last Friday after supporting Palestinian children at a charity concert in Barcelona.
Ahead of City’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle, Guardiola spoke about seeing children killed or injured in places like Palestine, Ukraine, Sudan, and in recent ICE shootings in the US, saying the footage “hurts me.”
He added: “It hurts me. I will always stand up. Seeing innocent people killed—fathers, mothers, children—it should move anyone. I cannot imagine anyone not feeling this.”
When asked why it matters so much, Guardiola said journalists rarely ask about these issues. “We see wars every day—how can anyone not be affected? It’s not about right or wrong,” he said.
