Menna Fitzpatrick has been named in Great Britain Paralympic Team for the upcoming Winter Paralympics, even though she injured her knee just three months ago.
The 27-year-old para-alpine skier, Britain’s most successful Winter Paralympian with six medals, decided not to have surgery so she could compete at the Games in Milan-Cortina, which start on 6 March. Her guide, Katie Guest, will join her in the team.
Other para-alpine skiers selected include Fred Warburton (with guide James Hannan), Sam Cozens (with guide Adam Hall), Hester Poole (with guide Ali Hall) and Dominic Allen.
Snowboarder Davy Zyw has also been selected and is believed to be the first snowsport athlete with motor neurone disease (MND) to compete at the Games. Matt Hamilton and Nina Sparks are also in the squad, with Sparks becoming the first British female snowboarder to compete at a Paralympics.
The Games run until 15 March and mark 50 years since the first Winter Paralympics. Britain won six medals at the 2022 Games in Beijing.
