Tottenham have signed England midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid for £35m, beating Aston Villa to his signature.
The 25-year-old joins Spurs on a long-term deal, returning to the Premier League after just one season in Spain. Gallagher had moved from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid in August 2024, with Joao Felix going the other way.
Gallagher said he is excited to start a new chapter at Tottenham and is looking forward to playing for the club’s fans and creating special moments.
He has won 22 caps for England but has featured only once under current manager Thomas Tuchel. Gallagher hopes regular football at Spurs will help him earn a place in England’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.
Spurs boss Thomas Frank praised Gallagher’s leadership, energy, pressing ability and goal threat, saying he will add quality and character to the midfield.
Tottenham moved for Gallagher after Rodrigo Bentancur was ruled out for at least three months following a hamstring injury.
