Martinez says he Doesn’t care what the Pundits think

Lisandro Martinez has fired back at pundits talking about Manchester United, saying they “can talk on TV” but “no-one says anything” to his face.

The 28-year-old defender was key in United’s 2-0 win over rivals Manchester City on Saturday, keeping striker Erling Haaland quiet and helping the Red Devils earn just their third Premier League clean sheet of a tough season.

The victory also gave interim head coach Michael Carrick a perfect start after United sacked Ruben Amorim and put Under-18s boss Darren Fletcher in charge for two games.

Before the derby, Martinez had been criticized by former United midfielders Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes. Butt said Haaland would treat Martinez like a “little toddler,” while Scholes joked he would “throw him in the net” after scoring.

Martinez shrugged off the comments, saying: “Honestly, he can say whatever he wants. If he wants to say something to me, he can come anywhere—my house, wherever. I don’t care. People can talk on TV, but when you meet face to face, no-one says anything. I just focus on my performance, the team’s performance, and give everything for this club until my last day.”

Scholes later shared some of Martinez’s words on Instagram, jokingly responding to the house invite with “tea, no sugar,” tagging the Argentine defender.
