
Chivers scored 174 goals in 367 games for Spurs over eight years, helping the club win two League Cups and the UEFA Cup. He also netted 14 goals in 24 appearances for England.
Born in Southampton in 1945, he began his career with his hometown club, scoring 106 goals in 190 matches, before joining Tottenham in 1968 for £125,000. Later, he played in Switzerland, Norway, and for clubs including Norwich City, Brighton, Dorchester Town, and Barnet, retiring in 1983.
Tottenham will wear black armbands in their upcoming match at Bournemouth to honor Chivers.
