The Cleveland Browns have sacked head coach Kevin Stefanski after finishing bottom of the AFC North for the second season in a row. The decision came on NFL “Black Monday”, when teams often make coaching changes after the regular season ends.
Stefanski, who took charge in 2020, led the Browns to two play-off appearances but oversaw a poor 5-12 record in the 2025 season. Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam praised him as a good coach and person but said a change was needed.
During his time in Cleveland, Stefanski guided the team to their first play-off appearance since 2002 and their first post-season win in 26 years. He also won NFL Coach of the Year twice, in 2020 and 2023.
The Browns confirmed general manager Andrew Berry will stay in his role. Stefanski is the second NFL head coach fired since the season ended, following the dismissal of Atlanta Falcons coach Raheem Morris.
