Brentford continued their strong season by defeating Sheffield Wednesday to reach the FA Cup fourth round. The Premier League side made eight changes from their win over Sunderland, resting striker Igor Thiago, while Keane Lewis-Potter scored the opener from Mathias Jensen’s free-kick.
Despite a series of chances and some impressive saves from Wednesday’s young goalkeeper Pierce Charles, Brentford sealed the win when Jensen converted a penalty after substitute Romelle Donovan was fouled.
The win extends Brentford’s excellent form, with five victories in their last six games, and sets up a chance to go further than the fourth round, a stage they have never surpassed since their Premier League promotion in 2021.
