England head coach Steve Borthwick is daring his team to dream of Six Nations glory, aiming to bring fans to Paris for the final showdown with defending champions France on 14 March. England enter the tournament in great form after 11 straight wins, starting with a home game against Wales on 7 February.
Borthwick, who played in the 2007 World Cup final in Paris, told his squad that recent Six Nations titles have often been decided in the last round. He wants England to handle each step carefully so they can be in position to achieve their goal.
The first challenge will be Wales under new coach Steve Tandy, whose team relies on high contestable kicks and fast edge play. Borthwick expects a tactical battle with potentially 50 contestable kicks and is preparing his squad accordingly.
England’s 36-player squad includes three uncapped players—Vilikesa 'Billy' Sela, Emmanuel Iyogun, and Greg Fisilau—as well as some experienced names returning from injuries, like George Furbank. Borthwick emphasized that players not currently in the squad due to injury, such as Ollie Lawrence and George Martin, are still very much part of his plans.
After Wales, England face Scotland (away), Ireland (home), and Italy (away) before the anticipated clash with France in Paris.
