Teenager Lewis Miley scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner as Newcastle United beat holders Fulham to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
The match looked set for penalties after Fulham’s Sasa Lukic equalised Yoane Wissa’s opener at St James’ Park. But Miley rose at the near post from Sandro Tonali’s corner in the final moments to secure victory.
The 19-year-old midfielder had stepped in at right-back due to injuries and delivered a crucial goal for Eddie Howe’s side. Wissa, making his first start since a knee injury and his £55m move from Brentford, opened the scoring, while Lukic’s header brought Fulham level.
Newcastle survived late chances from Fulham before Miley’s decisive header sealed their spot in the semi-finals, marking their third EFL Cup last-four appearance in four seasons.
