Brendan Rodgers has been named the new manager of Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah.
The 51-year-old has managed several well-known teams, including Liverpool, Leicester City and Celtic. He left Celtic in October after winning the Scottish league title in both seasons of his second spell at the club.
Rodgers’ departure from Celtic caused controversy, with the club’s main shareholder Dermot Desmond criticising his behaviour and accusing him of putting his own interests first.
Al-Qadsiah’s chief executive, James Bisgrove, said hiring Rodgers was a big moment for the club and praised his experience and winning record. He said the club wants to grow into one of the leading teams in Asia.
Rodgers will be joined by former Celtic coaches John Kennedy and Jack Lyons. He replaces Spanish coach Michel, who left the club after more than two years in charge.
Al-Qadsiah currently sit fifth in the Saudi Pro League after nine matches. Their squad includes former Real Madrid defender Nacho and Italian striker Mateo Retegui.
