Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou says his contract with the PFL is almost up, and that anything could happen in 2026. Speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Ngannou said he’s open to big fights including Jon Jones in the UFC or Deontay Wilder in boxing and he’s not ruling out signing a new deal with the PFL either.
Ngannou, 39, joined the PFL in 2023 but has fought there only once, knocking out Renan Ferreira last year. He didn’t give an exact end date for his contract but confirmed he should be a free agent before the UFC event at the White House on 4 July.
When asked about a potential fight with Jones, Ngannou said it could happen but warned fans not to get too excited because making the fight is complicated.
Ngannou left the UFC in early 2023 after disagreements with UFC president Dana White. While signed with the PFL, he has also fought twice in boxing, losing both times to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Ngannou said he mainly left the UFC to have more freedom, not because of money. Recently, White called him a “bad guy” and accused him of past backstage confrontations. Ngannou dismissed the claims, saying he’s tired of drama and just wants peace.
