Newcastle Stadium plans uncertain – Howe admits delay

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe says the club’s plans for a new stadium or an expanded St James’ Park, as well as improvements to the training ground, are still unclear and undecided.

Howe explained that while Newcastle are looking at either redeveloping St James’ Park or building a brand-new stadium, no final decision has been made, meaning everything is currently “in limbo”. He also admitted there is a 99.9% chancehe will not still be manager when any of these projects are completed.

The club is working on upgrading its Benton training ground, but Howe believes Newcastle will eventually need a completely new, modern facility because the current site has limitations.

The Newcastle boss said clearer direction on these projects would be a huge step forward for the club, helping raise standards, show ambition and support the academy. However, he stressed that the club must be patient and make the right decisions rather than rushing.

Howe added that although he is unlikely to benefit personally from the new stadium or training ground, he wants the plans to be right for the long-term future of Newcastle United, its players and supporters.
