Man City move to top of the Premier League with late Cherki winner at Forest

Rayan Cherki’s late goal sent Manchester City back to the top of the Premier League with a dramatic win at Nottingham Forest.

Forest had threatened to derail City’s title bid after Omari Hutchinson equalised following Tijjani Reijnders’ opener early in the second half. However, Cherki struck in the 83rd minute, securing City’s eighth consecutive win in all competitions.

Forest, who paid tribute to club legend John Robertson, suffered back-to-back losses under Sean Dyche for the first time this season. They had frustrated City in the first half, with Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic performing strongly, but Reijnders broke the deadlock three minutes after the restart. Hutchinson then levelled, scoring his first goal for the club.

Despite City’s efforts, including a Phil Foden shot saved by Forest goalkeeper John Victor, it was Cherki who ultimately found the corner from the edge of the box to secure the win.
