Nikola Jokic put on a historic performance with a 56-point triple-double as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 142-138 on Christmas Day, breaking a record previously held by Steph Curry.
The Serbian star finished with 56 points, 16 rebounds and 15 assists, making him the first player in NBA history to record at least 55 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists in a single game. Jokic also scored 18 points in overtime, surpassing Curry’s 17-point overtime record set in 2016.
The Timberwolves forced the game into overtime after coming back from 15 points down in the final five minutes. Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 44 points and hit the crucial three-pointer to level the game, but he was later ejected in overtime after arguing with referees.
The Nuggets secured the win and sit third in the Western Conference, while the Timberwolves remain fifth.
