Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika says that he is fully motivated and ready for the challenge as his side prepares to face Barcelona in the Champions League, following his return from injury.

The midfielder told the club’s website that the squad is embracing the moment.

“It won’t be an easy task, of course. But everyone here is looking forward to it. We know what’s coming, but we can’t be afraid,” he said.

Reiterating the midfielder’s comments, Brugge manager Nicky Hayen, speaking to AS, confirmed that the team will not approach the game cautiously, insisting they plan to press Barcelona high and attack. “We’ve been playing well in recent matches. They’re one of the best teams in the world. We’ll play high up the pitch, attacking and man-marking,” the 45-year-old coach said.

He warned that the Spanish side should not underestimate Brugge’s form. “I think Barça shouldn’t be overconfident. We’ve played well in the last few matches. We’ll play an attacking game. It’s a very special match. We know that. We admire Barça, and we know that to win this game we have to be focused and play at 100%.”

The coach also emphasised the role of home support, with the stadium expected to be filled. “We’re motivated. We have to play with a cool head, but we have the support of a packed stadium. They’re going to be behind us. I think it’s going to be a great match,” he added.

The tie is seen as a key test of Brugge’s European ambitions, with Onyedika’s return providing a boost to their midfield strength.

The 24-year-old came off the bench and played 28 minutes of the 2-1 victory over Dender at the weekend, having just recovered from a muscular ailment that prevented him from playing in their last seven games, including their most recent two Champions League matches against Bayern Munich and Atalanta.
