Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, has said that only one defensive midfielder in the globe can be compared to Moises Caicedo.
This was following the player’s latest display for Chelsea in their 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Chelsea beat their London rivals 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, thanks to Joao Pedro’s first-half goal.
The result propelled the Blues back into the top four of the Premier League.
Once again, Caicedo showed great tenacity to win the ball back twice before setting up Pedro for the game’s winning goal.
The South American midfielder delivered an all-action display with and without the ball to drive his side on to a deserved victory.
Speaking after his latest man-of-the-match display, Maresca pointed out that only Manchester City’s Rodri can hold a candle to Caicedo.
“He is top. At this moment, I think him with Rodri, they are the two best defensive midfielders probably in the world,” Maresca told Sky Sports.
He added at the post match press conference, “Moi is showing how good he is. He’s top.
“I said many times, the best thing for him, for sure we judge him on the pitch, but he’s so humble, such a good guy and is always there to help everyone.
“Him and Rodri, at this moment they are the best defensive midfielders in the world.”
