Carroll Signs for National League side as Qatari investment confirmed

Former Liverpool and Newcastle striker Andy Carroll has signed for Dagenham and Redbridge.

The 36-year-old has signed a three-year deal at the National League side.

The signing arrives on the same day that a deal had been agreed with a consortium of Qatari private investors for the full acquisition of the club.

Sky Sports News understands Carroll has taken a minority share in the team.

Carroll scored 54 Premier League goals in 248 appearances for three different clubs in England’s top tier.

Former Man City striker and ex-Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury became manager of the Daggers earlier this summer and spent several weeks pulling the deal together to land Carroll, who had bigger offers from teams higher in the football pyramid.

Carroll, capped by England nine times, was a free agent after his contract came to an end at Bordeaux, where he had scored 11 goals in 21 appearances.

Carroll is excited by the move and says it’s like “coming home” having spent seven years at West Ham between August 2012 and August 2019.
