Brentford have rejected Man Utd's opening bid of £55m for Bryan Mbeumo.
It was made up of a guaranteed £45m plus £10m in bonuses.
Brentford value Mbeumo, 25, in excess of £60m and negotiations are continuing.
After 68 goals in 239 appearances - and with effectively two years left on his contract - Brentford are willing to listen to offers for the Cameroon international.
