Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted he is not sure how long it would take new Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, to achieve success at the club.
Maresca enjoyed two successful spells at the City Football Academy, guiding their Elite Development Squad to the first of three successive Premier League 2 titles.
The Italian returned to join Guardiola’s coaching staff in 2022 after a brief stint at Parma.
Maresca won the Treble with City, before joining Leicester City, where he led the Foxes back to the Premier League in 2023/2024.
His success at the King Power saw him land the Chelsea job this summer.
Guardiola said: “He did a really good job at Leicester. I wish him all the best because he deserves it. Nice people deserve the best.
“As a manager to have success, the most important thing is you must believe in something deeply and no matter the results, stick with the idea.
“That’s why he believes in what he does. He will have success – I don’t know how long, but he will have it.”
