Casper Ruud defeated Novak Djokovic for the first time in his career on Saturday, reaching the final of the Monte Carlo Masters 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
The Norwegian won a rematch of the 2023 French Open final after losing to the world number one Serb in five previous matches. Djokovic was bidding for a 59th final at the Masters level.
Ruud, who advanced when Djokovic double-faulted, will on Sunday face Stefanos Tsitsipas, who defeated Jannik Sinner in three sets in the first semi-final.
