Man Utd Fans race back into Wembley after VAR call

Some Manchester United fans experienced the embarrassing and ridiculous after being spotted running back into Wembley for an FA Cup penalty shootout.

After seeing USMNT star Haji Wright hit the net with what appeared to be a last-second winner for Coventry at the end of extra-time, many Red Devils supporters decided to make an early exit and beat the post-game rush for trains out of north London.

A controversial offside VAR decision was, however, to see Wright’s effort ruled out by the narrowest of margins. As a result, the game remained locked at 3-3. With there no more late drama, an epic contest went all the way to spot-kicks.

After becoming aware of that fact, the United fans that had thrown in the towel suddenly made a desperate bid to re-enter the stadium. Any that were able to gain entry saw their side prevail 4-2 in a battle of nerves from 12 yards – with Andre Onana channelling his inner Emi Martinez to help Erik ten Hag’s side over the line.

United are now readying themselves for a second FA Cup final derby date with arch-rivals Manchester City in as many years, with the Blues prevailing 12 months ago as part of their treble triumph. Said contest will take place on May 25.
