McCormack and Mulgrew join Doncaster City

Former Scotland internationals Ross McCormack and Charlie Mulgrew have signed for non-league Doncaster City.

The duo, both 37, have joined the Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Alliance League outfit on short-term deals - as has ex-Livingston midfielder Scott McLaughin.

The trio of unexpected new recruits were announced on the club's official X page throughout Friday evening.

Doncaster City were formed in 2022 and currently sit second in the Black Dragon Premier League North, 10 points behind leaders Dearne and District - who they host on Saturday.

McCormack came through the ranks at Rangers before moving to Motherwell, the forward eventually playing for Cardiff, Leeds, Fulham and Aston Villa.

Mulgrew won five Scottish Premiership titles at Celtic and went on to play over 100 games in England at Blackburn.

It has not been announced how long the trio will remain attached to Doncaster City - or when they could feature for the club.
