Lionel Messi tells Barcelona who to appoint as Xavi’s replacement

Former Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has reportedly urged the club to appoint Marcelo Gallardo as the replacement for manager Xavi Hernandez.

As reported by El Nacional, Messi wants the Blaugrana to bring in the former River Plate manager at Camp Nou to succeed Xavi.

The report added that Gallardo, who is currently the manager of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, would be open to leaving Al-Ittihad if he receives an offer from Barca.

Barcelona have a major decision to make ahead of this summer as they need to replace their departing manager Xavi, who announced his decision to step down at the end of the season.
