Luton Town boss hail Adebayo after first top-flight hat-trick

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has showered encomium on Elijah Adebayo after the forward’s remarkable performance against Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night.

Adebayo scored a hat-trick for the hosts in the encounter.

The 26-year-old opened the scoring for Luton Town after just 19 seconds.

Nigerian-born striker, Chiedozie Ogbene added the second less than two minutes later.

Adebayo scored his second of the game just before the break after he was set up by Ross Barkley.

The Nigerian then completed his hat-trick in the 56th minute.

An elated Edwards predicted that Adebayo can enjoy a good career following his blistering display.

“He’s going to be really difficult to play against. He can defend set-pieces, he’s a threat in the six-yard box, because of his hold-up play and pressing and he’s scoring some goals,” Edwards said after the game.

“He’s progressing really well.

“He’s got a really high ceiling. If he stays focused and keeps working hard, he can go a long way and have a really good career.”

He has scored eight goals in 21 league appearances for Luton this season.
