Why Arsenal lost 2-1 against Fulham – Arteta

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has explained why his team was defeated 2-1 by Fulham in Sunday’s Premier League tie.

Two goals from Raul Jiménez and Bobby De Cordova-Reid gave Fulham the victory over Arsenal at home.

Bukayo Saka did score for the visitors against Fulham.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Arteta said the Gunners were not good enough against the host.

“We weren’t good enough. We didn’t have enough rhythm threat. Defensively, we were second best,” Arteta said.

He added: “Painful and a sad day. That’s how I would sum it up. We had the chance to be top of the table after 20 games. Three days ago, we lost a game that we deserved to win; today was a different story.”

The result leaves Arsenal in fourth position on the Premier League table, behind Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Liverpool.
