Rwanda Appoint Torsten Spittler Frank as new Coach

The Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) has named German, Torsten Spittler Frank as the new head coach of the men’s national team, Amavubi.

The 61-year-old has been saddled with the responsibility of helping the Amavubi secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Frank takes over from Spaniard Carlos Alos Ferer.

Ferer left the post in August after failing to qualify Rwanda for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations following a 2-0 loss to Mozambique.

The new coach Frank will take charge of the Amavubi for the first time when they take on the Warriors of Zimbabwe in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier later this month.

They will also take on South Africa’s Bafana Bafana this month.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Squirrels of Benin Republic are the other teams in the group.
